Ideas for Valentines Day

Ideas for Valentines Day

My favorite day of the year has always been Valentine’s Day. It didn’t matter if I was alone on that day or not, I still adored it. Valentine’s day for me is a celebration of love, love in its many forms, romantic love between a man and a woman, the never-ending love of family and dear friends, the enduring love between a parent and child, the abiding love between a human and their beloved pet, love of self and love shared with communities or the world.

In our society we seem to need an excuse to tell people how we feel about them, or show them with tokens of our affection. At Christmas, we exchange gifts and take time away from our busy schedules to be with the people who really matter in our lives. On Valentine’s day we are presented with yet another opportunity to open our hearts and share our souls. The marketplace makes it very easy for us to do that, presenting us with a cornucopia of delicacies and finery, from chocolates, to strawberries and whipped cream, to diamonds, singing teddy bear deliveries, and an abundance of greeting cards with just the right sentiment.

It matters not how you choose to serenade the ones you love on this auspicious occasion, what matters is that you do! Whether it be with a store bought treasure or a simple handmade delight, the form is not important, but the sentiment is! Valentine’s day gives you another opportunity to do something that comes naturally for you, as natural as breathing, and that is to BE love and to GIVE love. It is who you are and it is the only thing that really matters in the end.

I leave you with a Valentine Poem and my love…

A Table in a Restaurant on Valentine’s Day

I want to be a table, in a restaurant, on Valentine’s Day!

Think how glorious that would be, and how many people would spend that special day with me.

What will they talk about? What will they say? Will there be laughter and people at play? What are their stories? How far have they come? What will they tell me, the old and the young?

Will hearts open and tender souls touch? Will there be magic that moves me so much?

Will there be secrets and sadness as well? How much will they venture to be and to tell?

Will they remember this day gone before? And where they were then, and now they want more?

And though they look different, with each changing place, As the food and the wine, they’re invited to taste.

Each one is trying to do the same thing, Whether in depth, or a casual fling.

Just for a moment to touch someone’s heart. And feel loved by another before they do part.

Another Day To Love

  • May 1, 2011 at 3:58 am

A friend called me recently to tell me that one of her daughter’s teachers had committed suicide. Needless to say, everyone involved was extremely upset by this.

Many looked upon this as a selfish act on the part of the teacher. I thought to myself how quick we are to judge another after the fact. And how terribly slow we are to recognize the walking wounded all around us.

The news of this teacher’s suicide reminded me of a story I read about an elderly woman who had decided to take her life one morning, but someone had stopped to feed the pigeons with her in the park and the kindness of that one stranger changed her mind and saved her life. We never know what is in another person’s heart. What level of pain they may be going through. And in some cases, the pain may be so great that living no longer seems an option to them.

We may never know the sometimes immense consequences upon another, of an unkind word, a thoughtless deed, or a hasty decision made from an unexamined heart.

Each day, everyone of us, has a new opportunity to make a huge difference in this world. If I had one dream for humanity, it would be that tomorrow morning we would all wake up with amnesia. We would then see the world for the first time, with new eyes, the way a new born baby sees it, except that we would be in a grown up body.

We would have no conception of what was considered beautiful or good or important according to society’s ridiculous standard of worth. Everything and everyone would be a blessed opportunity for us, just the way they are.

Life would be waiting with another possibility to be all that we could be. Another opportunity to practice the gift of kindness in every moment. Another chance to rise above our mere mortal existence and for that one grand moment in time to walk among the gods.

Another day to love!

What Do I Know?

  • April 30, 2011 at 10:11 am

The other day something happened that really shook me up. Something shocking and unexpected and perplexing. It made me doubt some things that I had believed to be real and question my own truths. And so I asked myself what is it I really do KNOW for sure at this point in my life and I came up with the following.

I know that gratitude will fill my bank account faster than a New York minute.

I know there really isn’t any right or wrong, only what my own heart is telling me.

I know that a good cup of tea can solve almost every problem and if not solve it, at least soothe it for a little while.

I know that people need love more than they need things, but things are sometimes how they get love.

I know that when I focus with absolute determination, I always get what I want.

I know that laughter and sunshine can restore my soul.

I know that the sight of a newly opened morning glory makes my heart sing.

I know that nothing is more fun than playing with a puppy, except maybe playing with a dolphin.

I know that some time by myself each day makes me easier to live with.

I know that the more I learn, the more humble I become.

I know that it’s the simple things in life that bring me joy and I can choose to be happy for no reason.

I know that things change and that can be a good thing, even if it doesn’t appear to be at the time.

I know that out of great sadness and despair, joy can come, if I just surrender and let go.

I know that everything tastes better outside.

I know that pansies can be very deceiving. They are much stronger and hardier than they look and so am I.

I know that freedom is an inside job.

I know that love is the only thing we take with us when we leave and it is all that matters in the end.

In A Dream, You Can Do Anything

  • April 19, 2011 at 3:27 pm

For Today’s Inspiration

Some words from my e-book entitled:
In A Dream, You Can Do Anything

“Well, My Friends,

This is Act 2, Scene 3, of your play

And the curtain is about to go up
And the lights are dimmed
And the orchestra is ready to begin…

And there YOU stand, ALONE, stage center.
…And the world is waiting for you.

What will you tell it about YOU?

What will your dream be NOW?”

Take care and have a beautiful day.

Remember The Love

  • March 19, 2011 at 10:21 am

For today’s Inspiration…

Remember The Love

“No one can tell you what your truth is or how to get there.
They can only soften the path a little.
But if you are awake and alive, there will come a time when
you will have to examine your own heart.

Whatever you do today, remember ONE thing.
That in the end, all that really matters is the LOVE!
Did you seek it? Did you find it?
But most importantly – DID YOU GIVE IT?
Remember the LOVE.” ~ Veronica Hay

Some Irish Blessings For You

  • March 17, 2011 at 9:28 am

March 17, 2011 – Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Here are some Irish Blessings For You Today… Enjoy!

Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter

Lullabies, dreams and love ever after.

Poems and songs with pipes and drums

A thousand welcomes when anyone comes…

That’s the Irish for you!

(Irish Blessing)

St. Patrick

May St. Patrick guard you wherever

you go and guide you in

whatever you do–and may his loving

protection be a blessing to you always.

(Irish Blessing)

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields and,

Until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand

(Irish Blessing)

The Shamrock

There’s a dear little plant that grows in our isle

‘Twas Saint Patrick himself sure that set it

And the sun on his labor with pleasure did smile

And a tear from his eyes oft-times wet it

It grows through the bog, through the brake, through the mireland

And they call it the dear little Shamrock of Ireland

(Irish Blessing)

The Leprechaun

Near a misty stream in Ireland in the hollow of a tree

Live mystical, magical leprechauns who are clever as can be

With their pointed ears, and turned up toes and little coats of green

The leprechauns busily make their shoes and try hard not to be seen.

Only those who really believe have seen these little elves

And if we are all believers

We can surely see for ourselves.

(Irish Blessing)

Blessings, Veronica

For today’s Inspiration…

I would like to share with all of you a new video I have been working on about my love for and experience using Twitter. It is very short, only 3 minutes, and very funny, but does have a good marketing and life message attached to it. I do hope that you enjoy it and if you do, please take just a moment of your time to pass the link along, or tweet about it on Twitter, or let your friends know on Facebook. I would so appreciate all that you could do to help get it out there. I think we could all use a good laugh right about now.

Here is the link for YouTube and a description you could use to pass it along.

For today’s Inspiration…

“Your dreams are the gateway to your soul.

It is the dream realized that sets your soul to dancing

and it is the dance that matters, it is the dance that sets you free.

Remember, you did not come here to sit on the sidelines and watch.

You came here to dance!” ~ Veronica Hay

Dear Friends – Are you dancing yet?

Here is something that may help. A Dream Worksheet!

  • March 14, 2011 at 3:42 am

For today’s Inspiration…

I thought some of you may be in need of some peace and relaxation.

So I am offering my guided audio meditation entitled “Gifts From the Soul ” in order to help you do just that.
I have to tell you that l listened to it myself this morning, I hadn’t listened to it in a very long time and it made me cry and really helped me to put things in perspective once again.

So please sit back, relax and just enjoy being transported to another place and time for a little while.

Here is the link, please share with anyone you know who would benefit from a little more peace in their life today. Enjoy!
